Professional Expansive Agent For Concrete Expansion Prevention SK-201 Highly Efficient Plastic Expansion Agent
The alkaline water reacts with these silicates and forms a so-called alkali calcium silicate hydrate. This mineral accumulates moisture in its structure, which causes it to expand and gradually crack the concrete from within.
Thermal Expansion and Contraction. Materials expand or contract when subjected to changes in temperature. Most materials expand when they are heated, and contract when they are cooled. When free to deform, concrete will expand or contract due to fluctuations in temperature.
Expansive agents are used to decrease concrete shrinkage. Two types of expansive materials are presently used—one based on calcium sulphoaluminate and another based on dead-burn lime. Some commercial formulations are a combination of these two expansive materials.
Expansive agents are admixtures sold as powders that are added to concrete. In the early stage of hardening, they produce a controlled internal reaction so that the apparent volume of concrete increases. A concrete containing an expansive agent is also known as shrinkage compensated concrete.
Expansive cements are used generally to minimize cracking caused by drying shrinkage in concrete slabs and pavements structures and in special circumstances, such as prevention of water leakages. Expansive cements consist of a mixture of Portland cement, expanding agent, and stabilizer.
