Water retaining agent (WRA) is a kind of functional polymer material with strong water absorption capacity. It can absorb and release water repeatedly and is often used for crop growth in water shortage areas.

 

Untreated concrete is usually quite porous, absorbing and allowing water to slowly seep through microscopic spaces, but it can be made highly resistant to the passage of water by using fine aggregates and waterproofing additives to close the pores.

 

Water retention refers to the ability of these materials to retain water within their structure, which directly affects their workability, hydration, and durability. The water retention test involves subjecting a sample of cement-based material to a specific testing procedure.
